The childcare training course at Baan Dek Thai School is accredited by the Ministry of Education. The most important principal of choosing a nanny is the person must love children and be able to get along with members of your family. In addition, the nanny must also be a good and honest person. Their knowledge and capabilities, however, can be trained and developed afterwards. The habit and behaviour are hard to be changed. Therefore, we would rather suggest you to get a good nanny first and later send her to attend a training course to gain more skills and capabilities in babysitting.  Details of the training course and the importance of the childcare training are shown as following.

The importance of childcare training

Nannies are the persons that you trust to look after your child/children. Therefore, they are necessary to have sufficient childcare knowledge and skills which are important to physical and mental development of your child. For example, if the nanny has not got enough expertise to prepare lack of nutrition food, as a result, your child will not grow properly as he/she should be in his/her age. Another example is a family where nanny does not know how to look after a child who has got a fever. This may cause your child go into convulsions due to high temperature. Consequently, the symptom will lead to lack of oxygen in brains and finally become unconscious. Moreover, the basic knowledge of accident caution including fist-aids skill are essential to look after kids, The lack of these skills may cause to death of your children. For example, in the case of a child falls over and his-her head hit the floor. Although no blood is come out from his/her head, it might be bleeding inside the brain. If the nanny does not report the accident to parents or be aware of the unusual symptoms which show dangerous signs such as very quiet and overwhelm vomit, occurred to the kids after the accident, the child will be in danger to life.

Therefore, an investment of childcare training course for your nanny is worth of money and uncountable value. Some parents might be afraid that their nannies will run away to quit working with them after get trained. As long as you keep providing good things to the nannies and treat them well with sincerity, they will definitely stay with you in long term period. What should a nanny learn, how long is the course and what can that nanny do after training?

According to the curriculum of the nanny’s training course, there are six lessons to learn.

1. Daily childcare activities

For new born babies to pre-school children, the daily childcare activities are such as taking a bath, changing clothes, preparing milk, holding a baby, baby’s sleeping gesture, taking care of babies’ belongings including how to clean baby’s bed, baby’s clothes, sterilization of milk bottle, keeping baby’s toys. After the training session, the nanny generally would be able to look after everyday activities for the child accurately following the theory of babysitting with hygiene.

2. Child development and encouragement

In this lesson, nannies will understand steps of child development of different ages covering physical, mental, emotional and social developments. Moreover, they will learn how to encourage the child development through the way they play with the child. Also, they would be able to consider what activity should play with the child who has different ages to encourage their development. In addition, nannies can observe and report how the child develops his/her skills to parents. If the child’s development appears too slow or too fast, parents then would be able to bring their child to seek consultancy from experts at once.

3. Nutrition for children

This lesson includes milk and appropriate nutritious food for children according to their ages. Nutrition is important to the children’s growth. Therefore, nannies should gain accurate knowledge on how to feed milk and quantity of the milk provided to the children of different ages. Moreover, the nannies will learn how to prepare, arrange menus and cook nutritious food for the children. Included is additional techniques on how to cook to encourage dietary habits for children and make them enjoy eating their meals without forces.

4. Childcare for sick children including giving medicine

Nannies will be taught lessons about keeping medicine, caution of giving medicine to children. As the result, they gain better understanding of children’s diseases which often infect and their protection. They also learn how to look after the child when he/she are sick. Included content is how to protect children from the diseases and vaccination for kids.  

5. Accident may happen to children

Pre-caution of accidents will be advised to prevent accidents not to happen. Also, once an accident occurs, what nannies should do including first-aid skill.

6. Rules and things to do for nannies

Nannies should follow regulations such as a mobile phone should not be used during look after children due to lack of concentration. This may cause an accident to the child. Other suggestions include proper manners, the way to dress up and working disciplines etc.

The childcare training takes 120 hours per course or only two and a half weeks. As the result, your nanny gets ready to start babysitting for your family with full of reliability. The nanny obtains accurate knowledge in babysitting so that you feel confident to leave your children taken care by that nanny.

After completing the childcare training, nannies will be awarded vocational certificates from the school, accredited by Ministry of Education.

Tuition fee

This childcare training project is run by Baan Dek Thai School. It aims at educating nannies for the right information of babysitting. Special tuition fee only 3,000 Thai Baht is offered for our website’s members; those families who are interested to send their nannies to be trained and those individual nannies who would like to add more values for themselves and create more job opportunities.  The tuition fee is inexpensive and worth to invest when considers that you award the knowledge to the one who will look after your kids.
